XII International Young Dancers Festival

Arts Ballet Theatre founded, with three additional professional ballet organizations from other countries, the International Young Dancers Festival in 2004. Each founding organization rotates as host for the other groups and invites additional professional companies and professional high level ballet schools to create collaborative professional works, participate in work development projects in the styles of each company, and learn from the guest choreographers. In 2017, the Festival performance will be held in South Florida and will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. Participants include all four founding member companies: Odense City Ballet (Denmark), Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida; The Tanz Ensemble - Ballet Fouette (Poland); the Ballet Pirouette (Germany). Additional invited companies that will participate are coming from Mexico, South Africa, Japan, ENS Ballet of Lima (Peru ), Marlupi Dance ( Indonesia) , France and Spain.
Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida will lead a schedule of rehearsals, activities and performances emphasizing the international cultural exchange component by participating in a series of collaborative style exchange workshops for all participants on Character Dance, Folkloric Dance, Modern and Contemporary Dance, Classical Ballet (Vaganova, Cechetti and Bournonville Styles), and there will be an International Dance Conference open to the public where all directors and choreographers will talk about the different styles of each group and analyze the influences of each style. The Festival will close with two major performances at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center and the Parker Playhouse of Fort Lauderdale that will feature an original choreographic work created in collaboration with several of the international choreographers performed by principal dancers from each company of each country as the main piece showcasing the international exchange purpose of the Festival.
